New air-cargo route links China's Xinjiang, Britain

A new air-freight route has been inaugurated between Urumqi, the capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Bournemouth in the United Kingdom, marking a significant development in international trade logistics.

The new cargo service, operating from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, will offer four round trips weekly, with each flight taking approximately 10 hours. This route is part of the airport's expanding international freight network, which now includes eight routes connecting Xinjiang to countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Hungary, and the UK.

The air route will facilitate the import of goods like camel milk, clothing, shoes, and boots into Xinjiang, while exports will include fresh-cut flowers, medicines, and clothing. This expansion is expected to bolster trade and strengthen economic ties between Xinjiang and its international partners.
