4 April 2023 Air cargo has grabbed African automotive market share from the seafreight industry as a result of the disruptions caused by the Covid pandemic but volumes are shifting back. Speaking at the Air Cargo Africa event, Renai Moothilal, executive director of South African automotive component association NAACAM said that traditionally the automotive market had utilised seafreight for the bulk of its transportation needs. |

Gatwick Airport’s strong recovery is further evidenced by its increased long-haul connectivity, with the airport now serving 42 global routes – 68% the number flown pre-pandemic. |

1 February 2023 The air cargo industry is holding its own given the economic pressures it faced last year and despite a consistent drop in demand. According to the latest industry analysis by Xeneta-owned CLIVE Data Services, in December, chargeable weight fell 8% year on year and the general airfreight spot rate registered its largest year on year decline of 35%. Capacity in December 2022 recovered to 93% of the 2019 level. |
